Jackson Generals News Release
Pensacola, Fla. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, lost their series finale against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Tuesday, 3-2. The loss for Jackson (75-57) at Admiral Fetterman Field kept the Generals from winning the series; Pensacola (74-60) took the season series as well, 6-4.
Josh Green (2-4, 4.28 ERA) got off on the wrong foot with the Blue Wahoos, conceding three runs in the first inning as seven men came to the plate. Green did not allow a run in any of the subsequent five innings that he worked, finishing with six punchouts, two walks, and seven hits allowed. Kevin McCanna penciled in a pair of scoreless frames in relief on just 14 pitches, but the Generals offense couldn't get much going. Jackson starting pitchers threw 28 1/3 innings over the five-game series, their highest percentage of innings thrown since their August-opening series against Mobile.
The Generals' offense managed just one hit against Pensacola's Bailey Ober (3-0, 0.43 ERA) in the first six innings of the contest, striking out a total of 11 times against Ober in his seven-inning start. Jackson started to chip away with three singles in the seventh, leading to Seth Beer scoring the Generals' first run to make the deficit 3-1. A lead-off walk and a hit batsman in the eighth inning helped the Generals score their second and final run, which came on an RBI groundout by Pavin Smith that scored Galli Cribbs Jr. Jackson went just 1-for-10 with men in scoring position, twice going hitless in the final inning with the potential tying run at second base.
