FRESNO, Calif. - Andrew Ianiero scored twice to lead the Bakersfield Condors past the Fresno Falcons in Game 5 of the National Conference Quarterfinals, 4-2, Monday night, in front of 2,719 at Save Mart Center. The win was their third straight and gives Bakersfield a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, with Game 6 set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Rabobank Arena.

Ianiero scored just 17 seconds into the game, banking the puck off the back of Falcons goaltender Scott Stirling and into the net for a 1-0 Bakersfield lead.

Cory Murphy tied it up for Fresno on the power play at 9:34, blasting a shot from the point up high and past Rejean Beauchemin.

Late in the second period, Bakersfield took a two- goal lead by scoring twice in quick succession. At 18:44, Tyler Scott slapped a drive from the high slot past Stirling for a power play goal and a 2-1 lead. Before the Bakersfield fans at Save Mart Center could sit back down, Ianiero came up the right wing, deked Stirling to the ice, and lifted the puck over him for a 3-1 lead at 19:34.

Stuart MacRae pulled Fresno to within a goal at 6:44 of the third as he bulled his way out of the corner to the front of the net and flipped it in to make it 3-2.

MacRae nearly tied it when he had two chances from point blank range with just under 12 minutes remaining, but Beauchemin made a pair of fantastic saves to keep Bakersfield in the lead.

The Condors finished it off with 3:22 remaining, when Tyler Liebel broke down the left wing and beat Stirling short side to make it 4-2.
