Lake Charles Hurricanes News Release

Lake Charles, FL. MonaLisa Drake, owner and CEO of the ABA Lake Charles Hurricanes announced that ABA original, NBA legend Moses Malone would serve as President of Basketball Operations for the team scheduled to begin play in November 2006. According to Ms. Drake, "We are very excited to have Moses as part of our organization. Along with Freddie Lewis, Moses has received major recognition by having an ABA division named after him. His focus and mission will be to unite the best team of coaches and players possible and if the past is any indication of his ability, we will have a great team."

"Though the team will not be playing until next season," she continued, "the Hurricanes exist as an organization and our presence will be felt in the community this season. We feel very strongly about being in the community." Some of the current projects to begin this fall include:

*Remember the ABA traveling school exhibit. This exhibit will travel from school to school education youth about the original ABA and the history of basketball. *The Starting LineUp, a basketball show to showcase pro, semipro and local basketball. *Nutri-Fit Program, a nutrition and fitness aware program. *Youth in Aviation Day, an event that will educate youth about aviation and its many opportunities.
