
Hurricanes Announce Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services Theme Night

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club, in partnership with the City of Lethbridge's Fire and Emergency Services department, are excited to announce a theme night that will take place on Friday, February 23rd when the 'Canes welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings at 7:00pm to the ENMAX Centre.
As part of the night, the Hurricanes will wear custom Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services inspired jerseys that will be auctioned online following the game with proceeds benefitting Lethbridge Firefighters Charity Association. In celebration of Lethbridge Fire and Emergency services, the game will feature themed intermission events with appearances from the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) Pipe and Drum Band. Fans will hear from Fire and EMS members including one of their own, Bonnie Chartier, Public Safety Communications Specialist, who will sing the National Anthem.
"We are thrilled to be able to partner with Lethbridge Fire and EMS for this special game night," said Hurricanes General Manager of Business Operations, Terry Huisman. "Last year we had great success with our Lethbridge Police Service game night, and we were able to help raise money and awareness and we are excited to be able to extend that same opportunity and partnership this season with Lethbridge Fire and EMS."
Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services will be on the concourse during the game to chat with fans about how to become an LFES member, along with fire safety tips. Welcome fans to the entrance fo the ENMAX Centre will be a fire truck to explore and snap selfies with. The first 1,000 children through the doors will receive their very own small replica firefights helmet while Sparky the Fire Hound mascot will be in the stands to cheer on the Hurricanes.
"We're really looking forward to this event and getting to meet the community we serve," says Greg Adair, Chief, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services.
"Watching the 'Canes take to the ice is also a pretty great way to spend a Friday night while raising some money to help support the charity that helps our community too."
The Lethbridge Firefighters Charity Association's mission is to raise much-needed funds to continue to support our community in all ways possible. Some of the events they support include the Christmas charity traditions - sponsoring local families for Christmas and the Blankets for Seniors program. The Association also donates to local families in need throughout the year and to their own LFES members and families who may be experiencing a crisis.

The Hurricanes return to the ENMAX Centre on Saturday, February 3rd when they welcome the Calgary Hitmen at 6:00pm.
