LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Wednesday that they have hired Ryan Aasman as their new Video Coach, joining assistant coaches Jeff Hansen and Matt Anholt and head coach Brent Kisio.

Aasman, 29, joins the Hurricanes after spending the 2020-2021 season as the head coach of the Calgary Northstars of the Under-18 AAA League. Prior to his season with the Northstars, the Medicine Hat, Alberta product spent one season with the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Grande Prairie Storm where he was promoted to head coach midway through the 2019-2020 season. As a player, Aasman appeared in 166 regular season Western Hockey League games with the Prince Albert Raiders, Seattle Thunderbirds, Swift Current Broncos, Medicine Hat Tigers and Edmonton Oil Kings from 2007 until 2012. He then went on to spend four seasons attending and playing for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Men's Hockey Team from 2013 until 2017 when he began his coaching career.

Kisio, 38, returns for his seventh season as the 'Canes bench boss. The Calgary, Alberta product is the winningest coach in Hurricanes franchise history with a regular season record of 203-124-33. On the management level, Peter Anholt, 60, returns for his eighth season as general manager. Rob MacLachlan, 62, will enter his sixth season as the Hurricanes head scout. Under his supervision, the Hurricanes have selected NHL draft picks Dylan Cozens (first round) and Alex Cotton (fifth round) and NHL draft eligible defenseman Logan McCutcheon (third round) of the WHL Prospects Draft. In total, nearly half of the Hurricanes Prospect Draft selections from 2016 to 2018 have gone on to play at least one game in the WHL.

In addition to the coaching and management staff, the Hurricanes have announced that play-by-play broadcaster Dustin Forbes, 30, will return for his eighth season behind the mic making him the second-longest serving voice of the Hurricanes in franchise history only behind the legendary Steve Fallwell.
