Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

Harlingen, TX - As the residents of the City of Harlingen, Cameron County, and surrounding communities continue the task of digging out from the damage provided by Hurricane Dolly, the Harlingen WhiteWings announced they want to help everyone in the valley get back to a normal life.

From the WhiteWings' Executive Offices, came the announcement today that the organization will provide FREE admission to the club's remaining home games. "With everyone being impacted by the storm we want to do our part in providing some relief with giving free admission to every one of our last nine home games," WhiteWings General Manager Dave Kost said. "Driving around the city and the outlying areas, you see the devastation that has been left behind but more impressively, you see a community working together to get life returned to normal," Kost said.

The WhiteWings' left town early last Tuesday, just before the storm was due to hit, just to ensure that the team arrived safely in San Angelo for what was supposed to be a three game series against the Colts. Instead the three games turned into six and the Wings stayed on the road. "The decision to stay in San Angelo was made not only because we knew the stadium would need some work to recover from the storm but also, so that we (WhiteWings) were not a distraction to the work being done to restore the city to working order," Kost said. The WhiteWings will return back home to begin a six game home stand against the Laredo Broncos and the Alexandria Aces starting Wednesday night at 7:05pm, before heading back on the road for six games in San Angelo and Amarillo.

"I personally would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone and I mean everyone out to Harlingen Field starting Wednesday as a chance to get away from the grind of putting their lives back together," General Manager Dave Kost said. "We extend this invitation to include all the relief workers who have come to the valley from all over the State of Texas as well as nearby states," Kost said. "You won't need to buy a ticket just come by our offices or the ticket windows to get as many tickets as you need," Kost added.

"The WhiteWings' role in this community is to add to the quality of life and provide entertainment. I can't think of a better time when both are very much needed," General Manager Dave Kost said.

The WhiteWings' remaining nine home games are scheduled for July 30th - August 4th and August 12th - 14th. See you all at the ballpark courtesy of WhiteWings' and their Corporate Partners.
