
Huntsville snaps two-game skid

HUNTSVILLE, AL â The Huntsville Havoc (3-2) scored two goals in the first period and held on for a 4-2 win over the Winston-Salem Polar Twins (2-4) in front of 1,927 fans, snapping a two-game losing streak.
Dan Buccella scored the first goal with 9:20 left in the first with assists from James Patterson and Mike Degurse.
Mike Utzig scored with 1:55 left in the first with assists from Brad McDonald and Luke Phillips.
Phillips scored 4:10 into the second period with assists from Doug Merrell and McDonald.
Frank Burgio got the Polar Twins on the board with 6:26 left in the second on a breakaway goal. Trevor Karasiewicz and Chester Gallant got the assists.
Winston-Salem cut the lead to 3-2 with 1:32 left in the second on a goal by Joe Pace. Shaun Aebig and Steve Lajoie got the assists.
Huntsville put the game away with 9:23 left in the third on a goal by Tim Plett with Steve Howard getting the assist.
Matt Carmichael got his third win of the season. He stopped 33 of 35 shots. Nathan Grobins took the loss stopping 26 of 30 shots.
Huntsville was 1-6 on power play chances and Winston-Salem was 0-5.
Huntsville will host Macon tomorrow night at 7:30 while Winston-Salem will travel to Columbus.
