Oshawa Generals 6-foot-6-inch right winger Hunter Smith has been selected by the Calgary Flames, 54th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in Philadelphia.
Smith, 18, had a stellar year with the Generals accumulating 16 goals, with 24 assists, totalling 40 points in 64 games played during the regular season. The Windsor, ON native followed that up with 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points in 12 playoff games.
Generals GM Roger Hunt had this to say, "I couldn't be happier with Hunter's development through the years. He has completely dedicated himself to becoming a great player especially after starting his first year as an underager playing Junior B, to a hand surgery that required a 3 month recovery. It's that type of dedication that has made him the player he is today."
