Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City Yard Dawg and af2 veteran, Al Hunt, has been named the U.S. Army Ironman of the Week by the af2 league office.

Hunt (5'11, 215), in his fifth af2 season, had another impressive all-around effort for Oklahoma City in the team's 56-45 home win against Alabama in Week 15. The veteran from Northwestern Oklahoma State University made his presence felt on offense with 9 catches for 103 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Hunt also scored one rushing touchdown for the Yard Dawgz and was an impact player on defense with 1.5 tackles. This is Hunt's first Ironman of the Week Award this season and second of his career. He was named the U.S. Army Ironman of the Week during the Yard Dawgz 2004 inaugural season. Hunt earned American Conference All-af2 Second Team honors in 2006 and is the only player who has been with the Yard Dawgz since their inception.

Earlier this season, Hunt became the 5th player to catch 350 passes and score 800 points in a career and the 6th player in af2 history to reach 5,000 yards receiving. Hunt leads the Yard Dawgz in receptions (83) and scoring (29 TDs).

"Al is really stepping his game up," commented Head Coach John Fitzgerald. "If we need a play, we lean on him."

OS Jarrail Jackson and DS Clarence LeBlanc were finalists for the Schutt Offensive Player of the Week and ADT Defensive Player of the Week awards. In his first Yard Dawgz game of the season, Jackson had 8 receptions for 96 yards and two TDs. He also recorded two rushing TDs and had 6 kick returns for 138 yards. LeBlanc had 12.5 total tackles and one pass break-up in the win over the Steeldogs.

The Yard Dawgz head to Tulsa on Monday, July 16th, to take on Central Division leaders, the Tulsa Talons. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. For more information, call 405.228.3294 or visit www.okcyarddawgz.com.
