SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls, coming off a big 3-0 road shutout in Phoenix Friday night, look for their third win in the last four games when they host the red-hot Utah Grizzlies Saturday night.
SERIES HISTORY: The Gulls and Grizzlies have met six times this season with Utah holding a 3-2-1 series edge. Tonight is the last regular season match-up.

This is Utah's first season in the ECHL.
LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING (FEB. 22 VS. UTAH): Ryan Kinasewich and Colt King each had a goal and two assists, leading the Grizzlies to a come-from-behind 5-4 win against the Gulls Wednesday. San Diego had a 4-2 lead after the first period, but was kept off the scoreboard the rest of the way. Meanwhile, Utah scored three unanswered goals, capped by Chad Starling's game-winner 2:30 into the third period. Mark Wires (1g, 2a) and Jesse Bennefield (three assists) each had three-point nights, but it wasn't enough for San Diego.
GULLS UPDATE: San Diego (21-23-5) enters the day fourth in the Pacific Division with 47 points, four behind the third-place Bakersfield Condors... The Gulls are, however, 21 points ahead of the Stockton Thunder for the final playoff spot in the division... San Diego has won two of its last three games after losing a franchise high six straight games... Eight of its last 11 games have been decided by one goal... The Gulls have killed 79 of 88 penalties during the last 15 games (89.8 percent)... After an 8-for-97 drought on the power play, they are 6-for-27 in their last three games (22.2 percent)... San Diego broke a six-game road losing streak last night in Phoenix and is 12-8-4 at home this season...
PLAYER NOTES: Steve Hildenbrand has points in five of the last six games (3g, 5a)... Bennefield has nine points in his last six games (3g, 6a) and has 13 points (6g, 7a) in six games against Utah this season... Rob Flynn has a three-game point streak (2g, 2a)... Wires has four points in his last two games (2g, 2a)... Tom Lawson, who earned his second shutout of the season last night, has stopped 316 of 344 shots in his last 10 starts (.919 save percentage)... Five regulars remain out of the lineup with injuries (Guillaume Fournier - concussion, Richard Keyes - groin pull, Alex Kim - collar bone, Kelly Askew - broken ankle and Alex Rogosheske - torn ACL)... Taj Melson has two points (1g, 1a) and is a +4 in two games this week...
UTAH UPDATE: Utah (31-20-4) starts the day third in the West Division with 66 points, one ahead of the fourth-place Idaho Steelheads and 26 points ahead of the Victoria Salmon Kings for the final playoff spot in the division... The Grizzlies have won two straight and nine of their last 10 overall... Kinasewich leads the club with 28 goals and 63 points. He has nine points (4g, 5a) in six games against the Gulls this season...
TRANSACTIONS: Tyler Weiman was re-assigned from Lowell of the American Hockey League today... Forward Josh Newton was signed today... Defenseman Chris Cava was acquired from Columbia yesterday in exchange for Jason Reimers and future considerations... Former fan favorites Melson and Chad Wagner signed to play for the Gulls this week... Keyes was placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Feb. 5... Fournier, Kim and Rogosheske remain on the 30-day IR... David Svagrovsky remains with Lowell...
