HOUSTON (Thursday, April 23, 2015) - The Houston Dynamo have waived defender Oumar Ballo, the club announced today.

The Dynamo selected Ballo in the second round (No. 30 overall selection) of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. The Mali native helped lead UMBC to the NCAA tournament College Cup (Final Four) in 2014 for the first time in program history. A two-time NSCAA-All American, Ballo was named America East Conference Defender of the Year in 2014.

"We'd like to thank Oumar for his professionalism and attitude during his time with the club," Dynamo VP/general manager Matt Jordan said. "With the recent changes to our roster rules and regulations we felt this was the best decision to give him the opportunity to find a situation where he can grow and progress his career. We wish him all the best moving forward."

The 6-foot-2 center back spent the start of the 2015 season on loan with the Charleston Battery of USL.
