Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON (Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014) - The Houston Dynamo will host its annual Corporate Cup on Aug. 23 at Houston Sports Park. Proceeds from the seven-versus-seven soccer tournament will benefit the Houston Methodist Cancer Center.
The event is open to businesses and organizations and includes a fundraiser. In addition to the registration fee, teams are encouraged to collect donations to support the event. Organizations that raise the most donations will receive prizes, including an outing at Top Golf and an event in the Dynamo beer garden at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The tournament's group stage will be held on Aug. 23 from 2-8 p.m. at Houston Sports Park (12131 Kirby Dr. Houston, 77045). The tournament will feature two divisions: men's and co-ed. Each team is guaranteed to play a minimum of three games.
The championship game for each division will be held on Sept. 6 at BBVA Compass Stadium following the game between the Houston Dynamo and Montreal Impact. It marks the first time the Dynamo Corporate Cup championship games will be held at BBVA Compass Stadium.
In addition, division winners and top fundraisers will be recognized on-field at the Dynamo-Impact game. The winner of each division will receive the Dynamo Corporate Cup trophy, designed by Tiffany & Co.
The Dynamo Corporate Cup has generated over $15,000 for Houston Methodist initiatives over the last three years and the 2013 Corporate Cup featured over 300 amateur players.
