Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON, TX (Wednesday, February 27, 2008) - The Houston Dynamo have signed Argentine Forward Franco Caraccio, it was announced today.
Caraccio, 21, is a former member of Arsenal de SarandÃ, of the Argentine First Division. Per team and league policy, the terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
"We are delighted to have a player of Caraccio's caliber on our team," said Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear. "We look forward to having him become an important part of our offense during the 2008 season.
"He has good size, good speed, and has international experience in playing in Copa Libertadores, which is always a plus. We've seen him play, and know that he is explosive. He likes to run the channels, and play up front on his own," added Kinnear.
Besides playing in the Argentine First Division, the Chacabuco, Buenos Aires native was also a member of the Argentinean U-20 National Team. He is currently in his third season as a professional soccer player, all spent with Arsenal.
"We are pleased to add a young player with a tremendous upside," said team President Oliver Luck. "Although considered an up and coming prospect, we believe that he can have an immediate impact on our team this season. I think he will fight right into Dominic's system and be an effective contributor."
"He definitely has to come in and make an impact from the get-go," said Kinnear. "He has to fit in with the group and show us that he is going to be an important piece of our team. We are the current MLS Champions, and it is naturally hard for players to come in and play right away. However, in looking at (Caraccio), we feel that he has the ability to come in and make us a better team," added Kinnear.
The first game for the Dynamo of the 2008 MLS regular-season will be on March 29 against the New England Revolution, and its first home contest will be played on April 6, against FC Dallas. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please call 713-276-7500, or log on to www.houstondynamo.com.
