February 27, 2008 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008) - FC Dallas and Major League Soccer announced today the names of the 60 players who will move on to the next round of Sueño MLS: The Dream Continues. The 60 candidates were selected by the FC Dallas coaching staff following four days of intense open tryouts at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX.
Built by The Home Depot, Sueño MLS is a six-week long quest to find the best undiscovered young soccer player in the nation. This past weekend, beginning on Feb. 22, the competition began at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX, where four days of open tryouts took place under the watchful eyes of the FC Dallas coaching staff. The previous weekend, Chivas USA kicked off Sueño MLS with four days of open tryouts at the Bell Gardens Sport Center, home to Chivas USA's academy and youth teams, in the city of Bell Gardens, Calif.
Following the round of 60, "The Final 18" of each team will be selected and subsequently compete on March 8-9 and March 15 for a chance to train with the respective MLS team, and possibly earn a roster spot.
Saturday's Round of 60 will once again take place at the home of FC Dallas, Pizza Hut Park. The 60 players will be divided into four teams of 15 players each, and will be observed in various drills from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. CT. At the conclusion of the training session the FCD coaching staff will select 18 players for the next round. The media and public are invited to attend.
Sueño MLS returns to Republica Deportiva every Sunday at 10 a.m. CT in what can be termed as a unique "reality show within a show" format. The show will culminate with the announcement of the Sueño MLS winners on Sunday, March 30, just hours before the start of the MLS season on Univision network TeleFutura between FC Dallas and Chivas USA live from Pizza Hut Park at 2 p.m. CT.
