
Red Bulls Acquire 2010 MLS SuperDraft Selection from RSL

SECAUCUS, NJ (February 27, 2008) - Red Bull New York announced today it has acquired a conditional 2010 MLS SuperDraft selection from Real Salt Lake in exchange for midfielder Dema Kovalenko.
"We want to thank Dema for his time with the Red Bulls organization," said Red Bull New York Sporting Director Jeff Agoos. "During the past two years with New York, Dema has been a consummate professional. We wish him well with this move to Real Salt Lake."
Kovalenko, 30, was acquired from D.C. United on August 10, 2006, along with Shawn Kuykendall for a partial allocation. Over his two seasons with the Red Bulls, Kovalenko appeared in 31 matches, starting 27, and scored two goals and added one assist. Since joining MLS in 1999, Kovalenko has appeared in 198 games and scored 36 goals and added 36 assists with Chicago, D.C. United and New York.
