Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON (Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013) - The Houston Dynamo today unveiled the player rosters for the Brian Ching Testimonial Match, set for Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium. Also announced were details for fundraising and tribute events set for this week.
The Brian Ching Testimonial Match, presented by BBVA Compass, will celebrate the career of the retiring forward. Proceeds from the match will benefit Ching's charitable initiative, The House that Ching Built, which benefits Habitat for Humanity and aims to construct a new home for a family in the Houston community. The match brings the global-soccer tradition of celebrating retiring players to Houston and will honor Ching's career as he retires from professional soccer.
The festivities begin Wednesday with a Google+ Hangout with Brian Ching, also presented by BBVA Compass. The Hangout will be streamed at www.HoustonDynamo.com. The time of the Hangout will be announced today.
Ching and Dynamo Charities will also host a Celebrity Pour at the Dogwood (2403 Bagby St., Houston) on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. Ching will be joined by Dynamo teammates Corey Ashe, Bobby Boswell and Eric Brunner as celebrity bartenders for the event. The initiative will feature a silent auction, which includes a vintage Brian Ching autograph package. Additionally, authentic handmade leis will be sold in honor of Ching's Hawaiian heritage.
On Thursday, Visa will host a private Brian Ching Retirement Party at Warehouse Live. The evening will feature live music, a silent auction and appearances by Ching's past and present teammates. This event is sold out.
The tribute week culminates with the Brian Ching Testimonial Match, the first testimonial match in the history of Major League Soccer. The match will be streamed live at www.HoustonDynamo.com.
Proceeds from each event, including the match, will benefit The House that Ching Built.
