Houston Dynamo 2 Travels to Oregon to Face Timbers 2

HOUSTON - ‚ Houston Dynamo 2 head to Oregon to take on Timbers 2 for the final meeting between both teams this season. Dynamo Dos sits one-point out of the playoff line with three games remaining in the campaign.

Dynamo Dos hits the road to Oregon in hopes of kicking off another winning streak before the regular season comes to an end. Two separate unbeaten streaks have helped Dynamo 2 sit above or near the playoff line this year.

Houston has had 13 different players score this season to help the team tally 44 goals. Leading Dynamo Dos in scoring is Senegalese forward Papa Ndoye, who has 12 goals this season. The 24-year-old striker has more than doubled his goal scoring tally from a season ago. Ndoye scored back-to-back hat tricks against Real Monarchs on Friday, July 28, and Sporting KC II on August 6. Following closely is midfielder Diego Gonzalez who has scored nine goals this season. The Houston Dynamo Academy product has become a mainstay in the midfield this season making 24 starts.

Timbers 2 enters Sunday's game following a 4-0 loss to rival Tacoma Defiance. The match against Tacoma marked the eighth time this season that Timbers 2 has conceded four goals or more in a single match. Timbers 2 also has the third highest negative goal differential in the Western Conference with -18.

Here are three key points ahead of today's match:

VALDEZ HEADS TO NATIONAL TEAM CAMP: Dynamo 2 goalkeeper Xavier Valdez will miss Sunday's match up against Timbers 2 after being called up by the Dominican Republic National Team. Valdez, who has made 16 starts for Dynamo 2 this season, earned his first senior team call up during the June FIFA international window and made his senior team debut on June 17 against Chile. Valdez has 46 saves for Dynamo 2 this season.

ROAD SCHEDULE: Dynamo 2 had a 6-5-1 overall road record this season, scoring 24 goals away from home. Five of the six road wins for Dynamo Dos featured three or more goals scored in the game. The lone tie also saw Dynamo 2 come from behind on the road against instate rival North Texas SC, which ended in a shootout victory and an additional point.

TIMBERS 2: The host team needs a victory in regulation to keep their playoff hopes alive. If unable to secure three points, Timbers 2 will be eliminated from contention for a postseason berth. At home, Timbers 2 has an overall record of 7-4-1.
