Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros head home after a perfect 4-for-4 road trip after shutting out the Lake Erie Montsers 1-0 in Quicken Loans Arena Wednesday. The Aeros (31-22-2-3) recorded their third set of back-to-back shutouts this season. The win is Houston's third victory over Lake Erie (19-26-4-7) in three games this season. Houston moved into fourth place in the West Division with the victory, now one point ahead of the idle Peoria Rivermen.

Houston goaltender Barry Brust earned his second shutout of the season, in back-to-back nights, stopping all 31 shots faced. Monsters' G Jason Bacashihua blocked 29 of 30 shots on net in the loss. RW Joel Ward recorded the game's only goal, earning his third game-winning goal of the season.

The Aeros out-shot Lake Erie 12-5 in a scoreless first period. Houston had two power-play opportunities but didn't convert on either. Ward got the scoring started at 18:15 in the second frame shortly after leaving the penalty box. Ward stayed on the ice after serving his penalty as Houston intercepted a pass that led to a 3-on-2 breakaway. C Adrian Foster took a shot straight on net and Ward dumped in the rebound behind Bacashihua. Lake Erie out-shot the Aeros 16-11 in the second frame and headed to the locker room with a 1-0 Houston lead.

Houston killed off two penalties and didn't convert on a lone power-play opportunity in the final, scoreless period. Houston was out-shot in the third frame 10-7 as the Monsters out-shot the Aeros 31-30 in the game.

The Aeros host 11 home games in March starting on Tuesday. Tickets are still available and the month has many promotions.
