Kontiola Recalled By Chicago

Chicago, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have recalled forward Petri Kontiola from Rockford of the AHL.

Kontiola has appeared in 49 games for the IceHogs scoring 13 goals to go along with 31 assists for 44 points with 26 penalty minutes and a +9 rating. He also has 5 power play goals for Rockford.

This will be Kontiola's third recall by the Blackhawks this season. He has played in 9 games for the Blackhawks and has 3 assists and 6 penalty minutes with a +4 rating. Kontiola played in his first career NHL game on November 25th at Vancouver. He picked up his first career NHL point with an assist versus Nashville on December 19th.

Kontiola was the Blackhawks' 7th round pick (196th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
