Soo Greyhounds News Release

It was during the 2010-11 Ontario Hockey League season that the Soo Greyhounds, along with select corporate partners, executed a very successful "Pink in the Rink" night in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Today, the team is excited to announce their participation in a local community event supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club has officially registered their team - "5 Minutes for Fighting" - in the 2011 Sault Ste. Marie Relay for Life. The event will take place Friday, June 17, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

"5 Minutes for Fighting" will feature members from the Greyhounds Business Operations and Hockey Operations staff, former and present players, family and friends.

In addition, the Greyhounds are pleased to announce that the starting standard goal of $1200 has already been pledged by the overwhelming generosity of team majority Owner Dr. Lou Lukenda and the team's Board of Directors.

Now, "5 Minutes for Fighting" is putting out a call to their community partners, fans & team members to see how much they can raise for this very worthy cause.

Anyone interested in pledging the Greyhounds entry in the Relay for Life can do so online at t eam&fr_id=8758 or by stopping by the Soo Greyhounds Administration Office (Suite Level of the Essar Centre) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All money raised helps with the fight against cancer, by supporting the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is excited to take part of the 2011 Relay for Life and thank-you in advance for your support.
