Hounds Sweep the Kings In Front of Huge Crowd!

Saturday night the Youngstown SteelHounds captured their sixth straight win and improved their unbeaten streak to nine games as they swept the Memphis RiverKings 4-1 in front 5,348 people at the Chevy Centre.

Ryan Held had the one bright spot of the game for the Kings (34-15-5/73pts) as he scored at just five minutes into the game to put Memphis up 1-0 after the first period.

In the second period Tab Lardner and Jeff Alcombrack scored power play goals to put the Hounds up 2-1 after 40 minutes of play.

The third period was wild and crazy as five fights broke out after the Hounds gained a 4-1 lead thanks to Jeff Christian scoring two goals, one on the power play to finish the scoring. The Hounds were an amazing 3-6 on the man advantage as they were able to earn a three game sweep over their divisional rivals. Brad Roberts had 31 saves on 32 shots to earn his sixth straight victory as Youngstown is now unbeaten in their last nine as they are now 29-16-9 (67pts) for the season.

The Hounds will finally have a chance to catch the Oklahoma City Blazers for fourth place in the Northern Conference Playoff Picture when the Blazers come to town for two games starting Tuesday morning when Youngstown State University presents Kids Day for a special 10:30am start. This game will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN Radio 1240-The Fan as well as steelhounds.com and CHLTV.com with a special edition of "Hounds Game Night" starting at 10am.
