Midland RockHounds News Release

Over the first eight innings Monday night at Rocky Town, each of the game's first four runs had been with the help of an error or a wild pitch.

Beau Taylor changed all that with a walk-off, 400-foot single in the last of the ninth, giving the 'RockHounds a 3-2 win over Frisco.

Jefry Marte led off the ninth with a walk, and was replaced by pinch runner Tyler Ladendorf. Besides Taylor's walk-off, the game's biggest hit was Vinnie Catricala's clutch single to right-center, which came on an 0-2 pitch and sent Ladendorf all the way to third base. From there, with the infield and outfield both playing in, Taylor sent a pitch to deep center, driving in the game-winning run.

The RockHounds scored in the first inning when Conner Crumbliss (see Kibbles & Bits, below) singled and stole second, then moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Jake Goebbert's ground out.

Frisco tied the game in the fourth and took the lead in the fifth, each run coming with the help of RockHounds defensive miscues. Three errors in the fourth led to the tying run and a two-out miscue allowed Brett Nicholas to reach in the fifth. Alex Buchholz then doubled to left to give the RoughRiders a 2-1 lead.

The 'Hounds got back-to-back singles from Crumbliss and D'Arby Myers (see Kibbles & Bits, below) in the eighth, with Crumbliss hustling to third when Myer's single caromed into shallow left. He scored on a strikeout compounded by a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2.

With the victory, the 'Hounds snapped a five-game losing streak (all five at the hands ... or Hooks ... of Corpus Christi. The win was also the RockHounds' fourth in-a-row over the RoughRiders, after sweeping a three-game set in the Metroplex last week.

Kibbles & Bits

- Conner Crumbliss went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and scored twice, extending his on-base streak to 25 games (the longest by a RockHounds batter this season and the fourth-longest in the Texas League in 2013). Conner is now 10th in the Texas League batting race (.283) ... third in on-base percentage (.415) ... and ranks fourth in the league in walks (53) despite playing in just 66 games (he opened the year with the Triple-A Sacramento RiverCats).

- D'Arby Myers extended his hit streak to 10 games, and did it in dramatic fashion. D'Arby didn't start the game, but came in as a pinch hitter with the 'Hounds trailing, 2-1, in the eighth inning. His sharp ground ball to shortstop got a little "kick" and eluded Hanser Alberto, pushing Crumbliss to third (he would score the tying run moments later). D'Arby his 16-for-37 (.432) in the 10-gamer.

- Carlos Hernandez' bid to become the franchise's all-time wins leader fell short, resulting in a no-decision, but the lefty was outstanding again. He went seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs, but both were unearned. In his last seven starts, Carlos has allowed ONE earned run (49-and-a-third innings ... a 0.18 ERA)!
