Hounds select Beukeboom with First Round Selection

May 3, 2008 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Soo Greyhounds News Release

With their 1st Round Selection (18th overall) in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection, the Soo Greyhounds were pleased to select Brock Beukeboom.

The 6'1", 195-lb right defenseman comes to the Hounds from the Central Ontario Wolves Minor Midgets.

Beukeboom is a native of Uxbridge, Ontario and son of former Soo Greyhounds and National Hockey League rearguard Jeff Beukeboom.

"We are pleased to welcome Brock to the Greyhounds. Brock is a player with a lot of upside. He played both defense and centre this season, but we project him as a defenseman on our club. Brock skates very well and possesses a real good shot, while also being able to play a physical game. Brock is excited to be a Greyhound and follow in the footsteps of his father Jeff (who played with the Hounds from 1982/83 to 1984/85)" commented Hounds GM Dave Torrie.

The Hounds look forward to seeing Brock in Sault Ste. Marie for the team's prospect orientation camp at the end May.

HOUNDS NEXT PICK:

8th pick in the 4th Round

69th overall
