
Hot Rods Shut Out Crawdads for Third-Straight Win

Bowling Green, Kentucky- Patrick Wicklander sparkled out of the bullpen for the Bowling Green Hot Rods (47-28) who blanked the Hickory Crawdads (43-34) on Wednesday at Bowling Green Ballpark. The Hot Rods and Crawdads continue their series on Thursday at 6:35 PM CT.
The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning, and the Hot Rods hit the ground running with a leadoff walk to Michael Berglund. With one out in the inning, Mason Auer singled off Crawdads starter Ricky Vanasco to get the ball rolling. Alika Williams singled to load the bases before Diego Infante drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly. The Hot Rods drove in two more runs on consecutive RBI singles from Alexander Ovalles and Heriberto Hernandez to make it 3-0, ending Vanasco's night. Before Crawdad's reliever Yohanse Morel threw a pitch, he was balked, advancing Ovalles home and giving the Hot Rods a 4-0 lead.
Johan Lopez was hit by a pitch to lead off the seventh, and left the game as a result. Abiezel Ramirez replaced him, and quickly advanced to second on a balk. An error on Crawdad's second baseman Thomas Saggese sent him to third and scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield from Ronny Simon to make it 5-0. Audry Lugo and Graeme Stinson completed the shutout for Bowling Green, who finished with a 5-0 win.
Logan Workman threw 4.0 scoreless innings with two hits, one walk and a strikeout in a no decision. Wicklander (2-4) earned his second win of out the bullpen, striking out five in 3.0 scoreless frames with a hit and walk. Lugo threw a scoreless inning with two hits and two strikeouts. Stinson finished off the game with a walk and a strikeout in 1.0 inning.
Notes: Infante's first-inning single extended his hit streak to 10 games... He is the second Hot Rods hitter with a double-digit hit streak this season... His sixth-inning sacrifice fly was his 10th RBI in his last five games... It also moved him into a tie for seventh in the SAL with 43 RBIs on the year... Alika Williams extended his hit-streak to five games... Heriberto Hernandez recorded a hit in each of his last four games... The Hot Rods recorded their sixth shutout win of the season and second against Hickory... The Hot Rods and Crawdads resume their series on Thursday with first pitch set for 6:35 PM CT...
