Five Outs Away... Bowling Green cruised to their eighth shutout of the year, buoyed by their pitching staff that took a combined no-hit bid into the eighth inning in a 6-0 victory. Alika Williams and Matthew Dyer each homered and recorded multiple hits, and Kyle Manzardo went 2-4 with two RBIs in the win. Patrick Wicklander earned his third win out of the bullpen, pitching 5.1 perfect innings to relieve Austin Vernon. BG was walked five times as a team, and every Hot Rods hitter reached base at least once in Bowling Green's third-straight win.

Yesterday's Notes... Williams is the fifth Hot Rods hitter to reach double-digit home runs in 2022... Dyer has hit all three of his home runs within the last week-and-a-half... Manzardo recorded multiple RBIs for the 15th time this season... Every hitter in the Hot Rods lineup reached base at least once... The Hot Rods held Greensboro third basemen Dariel Lopez hitless for the first time in 18 games, breaking up the longest hit-streak in the SAL this season... BG's staff took a no-hitter into the eighth inning... The Hot Rods' pitchers have recorded eight shutouts this season... Berglund has thrown out one-third (six-of-eighteen) of potential base-stealers this season...

Changes... The Tampa Bay Rays announced last Tuesday that Hot Rods Infielder Ronny Simon had been promoted to AA Montgomery, making room for 2021 Hot Rods infielder Gionti Turner to receive a promotion from Single-A Charleston. Simon leaves the Hot Rods as the team leader in both stolen bases (22) and home runs (15). Turner returns to the Hot Rods after playing five games with BG in 2021 at the end of the season. On Friday, Matthew Dyer was activated from the IL after rehabbing with the FCL Rays. Graeme Stinson was promoted to AA Montgomery on Saturday.

Playoff Ready... With the Hot Rods clinching their spot in the 2022 SAL Playoffs, tickets for the post-season games at Bowling Green Ballpark have gone on sale. The Divisional Round will begin on Tuesday, September 13 at the second-half South Division Champion's ballpark before game two of the series will be at Bowling Green Ballpark on Thursday, September 15. If game three is necessary, the Hot Rods will host that game on Friday, September 16. In the event the Hot Rods advance to the League Championship, they'll host game one on Sunday, September 18 before finishing the series on the road on Tuesday, September 20, and Wednesday, September 21at the North Division's winner.

Clinched!... BG finished the first half leading their division for the third time in club history, clinching a playoff spot with 2018's Midwest League Champions and again in 2011. (there were no halves in 2021). The 2011 team finished the first leg of the season with a 41-29 record while the 2018 Hot Rods set a franchise record with 47 wins in the first half and a record of 47-22. The 2022 club became the third Hot Rods team to the 40-win mark in a half.

Among the Leaders... The Hot Rods have multiple players that are amongst the league leaders in several categories. Recently promoted Ronny Simon leaves the team tied for eighth in the league with15 homers. Simon was also tied for fourth in runs scored (57), eighth in stolen bases (22), and eighth in total bases (136). Kyle Manzardo is now qualified and is tied for sixth in homers (16), second in batting average (.316), and third in OBP (.421) while leading the league in slugging (.623) and OPS (1.044). Heriberto Hernandez is fifth in extra-base hits (38) and second in doubles (22). Mason Montgomery, who hasn't been with BG since July 9, still leads the SAL with 118 strikeouts while Anthony Molina leads the league with 10 wins. Joe La Sorsa, who is also in Montgomery, is still tied for fourth in the SAL with seven saves.
