Hops Pitchers Shut out Everett En Route to 8th Straight Victory

Hillsboro Hops News Release

The good times keep rolling in Hillsboro. In front of 3,508 fans on Friday night, five Hops pitchers combined to shutout the Everett AquaSox by a final score of 1-0. It was the eighth consecutive victory for Hillsboro, matching a franchise record.

The pitching staff dominated from the very start as former Oregon Duck toed the rubber first. He fired two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts and was relieved by Kai-Wei Lin to begin the third.

Lin proceeded to dominate the Everett lineup for three innings, allowing just one baserunner while striking out three.

From there Ryan Miller, Justin Garcia and Josh Green combined for the final four innings and never gave Everett any daylight.

Green in particular continued his magical season for Hillsboro, commanding a 1-2-3 ninth inning to record his eleventh save and lower his earned run average to 0.93.

The lone run of the ballgame came through on a Ryan Tufts RBI single in the sixth inning to score Joey Rose.

Hillsboro is beginning to approach some pretty lofty accomplishments in this 2018 season. After beginning the first half 21-8 en route to a 24-14 record and first half title, the Hops have again sprinted out to a 21-8 record in the second half. Their season record sits at 45-22, good for a .672 winning percentage. That percentage trails only the Boston Red Sox in all of affiliated professional baseball.

At 45-22, the 2018 Hops are within striking distance of the champion 2014 Hops who finished the season 48-28. If Hillsboro can pull off four more seasons, they will set a new franchise record for wins in a season.
