Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
FARGO, N.D. - Fargo-Moorhead 1B Jesse Hoorelbeke has been named the Northern League Rawlings Player of the Week after slugging four home runs on Sunday to end the week with a .308 batting average, the league announced today.
Over the past week Hoorelbeke assisted his team to a 5-2 record and led the team with five home runs and 12 runs batted in. On Sunday alone he drove in a team record and career high eight runs as the RedHawks defeated the Edmonton Cracker-Cats, 14-3. He also hit four home runs in Sunday's game, establishing a new franchise record and tying him with Harry Berrios and Ryan Jones for the Northern League record. Both Berrios and Jones accomplished the feat in 2000.
In his last seven games Hoorelbeke went 8-for-26 at the plate and led the team in home runs, RBIs, total bases (23), slugging percentage (.885) and walks (4).
He is the first RedHawk to receive a league honor this season and is the first Player of the Week since the league awarded Ruben Salazar the same honor on September 4, 2005. In all the RedHawks earned three Player or the Week awards last season and two Pitcher of the Week awards.
