
Hooks shutout Missions

Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
(SAN ANTONIO, TX) - The Corpus Christi Hooks finished the regular season on a good note, a 7-0 shutout of the San Antonio Misisons. The Hooks finish the second half with a record of 35-35 and a season record of 76-63.
Mark Saccomanno had three hits on the night including a second inning solo home run. Saccomanno's home run was his 20th of the season. Walter Young added a three-run homer in a five run fourth inning for the Hooks.
The Hooks added another run in the eighth to give them a 7-0 lead. With two outs, Jorge Cortes singled to right field scoring Saccomanno from second.
Hooks' starter Josh Miller tossed five innings of shutout baseball giving up three hits en route to the victory. Miller (11-10) struck out three in the five innings and didn't surrender a walk. Ryan Feierabend (9-12) suffered the loss for the Missions giving up a solo home run in three innings of work. Chad Reineke and Paul Estrada each tossed two innings of shutout relief.
The Hooks begin the playoffs on Tuesday at Whataburger Field against the Midland RockHounds. In game one, RHP Juan Gutierrez (8-4, 3.04) will toe the slab for the Hooks, while the RockHounds go with RHP Brad Knox (12-5, 3.67). The first 5,000 fans through the gates with a paid addmission will recieve a "Let's Go Hooks" rally towel courtesy of Wells Fargo. Also, Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Hooks' first-ever playoff game.
