Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

FRISCO, TX - Michael Feliz pitched six stellar innings and A.J. Reed plated five runs Saturday night as the Hooks rolled to a 12-4 triumph at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Corpus Christi (11-11, 59-33) notched 12 hits in the series finale with six going for extra bases.

Conrad Gregor put the Hooks on the board in the second with an opposite-field shot off Frank Lopez (3-3). His second home run in as many nights put Corpus Christi in front 1-0.

With the bases loaded in the third, Reed lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Brett Phillips. Jack Mayfield then scampered home via a wild pitch.

The Hooks made it 5-0 in the fourth. With two away, Jio Mier laced a double off the fence in left, putting a pair in scoring position. Phillips cashed in with a two-run single up the middle.

In the home half, Frisco broke through against Feliz. Luis Marte cracked a bases-loaded single to left field, driving in Alex Berg. Trever Adams was cut down at home on the play thanks to an outfield assist by Danry Vasquez.

Feliz (3-2), who retired the last six men he faced, permitted one run on three hits and two walks. He tied a season-high with seven strikeouts.

Corpus Christi broke the game open by scoring five times in the eighth. A Mier two-run blast and a three-run shot off the bat of Reed accounted for the damage.

Aaron West earned the three-inning save, an effort which protected Corpus Christi's taxed bullpen.

The Riders (13-8, 42-49) struck for three runs in the ninth. The frame was highlighted by a two-run sac fly from Luis Mendez. Luis Marte made the play, peddling home from second base on the deep drive to the warning track in centerfield.

The Hooks return to Whataburger Field Sunday evening for a four-game homestand against Midland. Jake Sanchez (7-5, 4.70) is slated to face Corpus Christi's Kyle Westwood (6-3, 4.34) in the opener.
