Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

SPRINGDALE, AR - RHP Luke Farrell gave the Naturals a strong start in the series opener as he retired the final 14 Drillers he faced in the game. The young righty only gave up one run through six innings of work, but the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (7-15, 47-45) ultimately were defeated by the Tulsa Drillers (12-11, 42-50) on Sunday evening by the score of 8-1 at Arvest Ballpark.

Farrell has been outstanding of late as the right-hander has only allowed two runs and thirteen hits over his last four appearances. During that stretch of 18.0 innings, he has fanned 12 hitters and walked just three. However, tonight the Naturals ran into a pitcher equally as impressive as veteran RHP Jeremy Kehrt gave the Double-A Dodgers 7.0 innings of one run baseball. The 29 year old right hander was able to retire the last 16 hitters that he faced and struck out four while issuing no walks in the game.

The Naturals got to Kehrt in the first inning behind a couple of two out doubles. Jorge Bonifacio got the two out offense started with a double to left field, his 19th on the year, before Alex Liddi drove him with in with a double to right-center field, his team-leading 23rd double of the season, to give the Naturals an early 1-0 advantage over the Drillers.

Tulsa tied the game in the third after Brandon Trinkwon and Adam Law led off the inning with back to back singles against Farrell.  Lead-off hitter, Ronald Torreyes, came up next and hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Trinkwon to even the game at 1-1.

Tulsa eventually took the lead with some late offense in the top half of the eighth and ninth innings respectively. Erisbel Arruebarrena would single to right with the bases loaded to score Trinkwon and make it 2-1. Lars Anderson extended score to 3-1 with an RBI walk to score Law. In the ninth, Tulsa would collect five more hits and score five more runs to set the final score at 8-1. RHP Jeremy Kehrt (6-6, 3.43) received the win while RHP Deck McGuire earned the save, his first of the season, with two scoreless innings of work.

Northwest Arkansas continues their 4-game series against the Tulsa Drillers, the Double-A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, tomorrow night for a 7:05 p.m. game at Arvest Ballpark on Monday Night Lights presented by Ozarks Electric Cooperative. Monday nights at the ballpark feature Dollar Hot Dogs by Tyson Foods and Indigo Sky Casino Baseball Bingo. The Drillers will send RHP Jharel Cotton (3-1, 2.93 ERA) to the mound to face LHP Sean Manaea of the Naturals in his highly anticipated Double-A debut.
