San Antonio Missions News Release

Telvin Nash's homer in the top of the sixth turned out to be the difference in Corpus Christi's 2-1 win over San Antonio Monday afternoon at Wolff Stadium.

Monday's contest featured a classic Wolff Stadium pitchers' duel between San Antonio's Justin Hancock and Corpus Christi's Chris Devenski. Neither starter allowed a run through the first four and a half innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, Travis Jankowski connected on a solo homer to right, his first of the season and just the third of his career. The long ball extended Jankowski's on-base streak to a career-best 27 games, while also pushing his hit streak to 10.

Hancock was not his sharpest Monday, walking five in just five innings, but he kept the Hooks off the board nonetheless, allowing only three hits.

Corpus Christi took advantage of Hancock's exit in the sixth when Nash followed a Tyler Heineman leadoff single with a two-run dinger to left center off Luis De La Cruz (0-2). It was Nash's sixth homer of 2015.

The Nash blast turned out to be enough for Devenski (3-0), who combined with relievers Travis Ballew, Mitchell Lambson and Jandel Gustave (2nd save) to keep San Antonio off the board the rest of the way.

San Antonio (14-17) wraps up its four-game series with Corpus Christi (19-12) on $2 Tuesday presented by KCWX. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Colin Rea (1-1, 1.50) will get the ball for the Missions, while the Hooks counter with fellow righty Mike Hauschild (3-1, 4.18).

Notes: Trea Turner's first-inning triple (1st at AA level) extended his hit streak to six games (11-24).
