CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Hooks fell in their series finale to the Frisco RoughRiders 4-1 on Wednesday night at Whataburger Field as Corpus Christi dropped their first home series of the season.

Hooks starter Brandon Bielak surrendered a leadoff homer to Eliezer Alvarez as the RoughRiders took an early 1-0 advantage. Bielak then tossed scoreless second and third innings before allowing an RBI double to Destin Hood in the fourth to make it 2-0.

Frisco lefty Brett Martin tossed three scoreless frames while right-hander Tyler Davis relieved him and kept the Hooks off the board in 4.2 innings of relief.

Bielak was replaced by Kit Scheetz in the sixth inning and finished a scoreless frame. Scheetz completed a scoreless seventh before allowing a pair of baserunners to reach in the eighth. Ronel Blanco replaced Scheetz and gave up an RBI single to Luis Mendez as the 'Riders took a 3-0 edge.

The Hooks mounted a rally in the eighth against Frisco reliever C.D. Pelham. Josh Rojas laced a two-out double while Alex De Goti drove in Rojas with a single. Andy Pineda then reached on a single to put the tying runs aboard. Pelham was replaced by righty Reed Garrett, who induced a groundout from Anibal Sierra to end the threat.

Frisco tacked on another tally in the ninth before Garrett tossed a scoreless frame to end the ballgame.

The Hooks begin a seven-game road swing with a series opener on Thursday night in Midland, TX. The Hooks send righty Hector Perez to the mound while the RoughRiders counter with left-hander Jesus Luzardo. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
