Tulsa Drillers News Release

The Tulsa Drillers were back in action Thursday night to play game one of a four-game set against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Tulsa's starter was Parker Curry who was just called up from Rancho Cucamonga, and his quality start was not enough as the Naturals edged the Drillers 4-3 at Arvest Ballpark.

Tulsa got the scoring started in the top half of the second when Cael Brockmeyer followed a single and stolen base by Drew Jackson with a single into right to put the Drillers on top early 1-0.

The Naturals immediately answered in the bottom of the inning when Corey Toups drove in Anderson Miller with one out to tie the game at 1-1. Curry would hold on to end the the threat retiring the next two batters.

The teams would continue the offense with the Drillers striking back in the third when a lead off walk to Errol Robinson was followed by a double from Luke Raley to give Tulsa a 2-1 lead. After walking the next batter, Arkansas starter Foster Griffin would dial in to retire the next three Drillers to end the inning.

Curry started the third inning by retiring the first two Naturals, but would run into trouble as Alex Liddell would hit his 16th home run of the year to tie the game. The inning would get worse as a walk and single led to an RBI single by Miller. An error by Mike Ahmed extended the Arkansas lead to 4-2.

The Drillers led off the top of the eighth with back-to-back singles by Ahmed and Jackson. Brockmeyer would then drive in his second run of the game to cut the lead to only one run. Reliever Andres Machado would come in to get a strike out and double play to end Tulsa's rally at 4-3.
