
Hood's 6 RBI leads Fightins to fifth straight win

Destin Hood hit two home runs and recorded six RBI's in the Fightin Phils (72-51) 12-6 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (59-61). Reading has now won 15 out of their last 16 games played and have won their fifth straight series.
Reading took a 1-0 lead off Casey Lawrence and the Fisher Cats in the bottom of the first inning as Nick Williams scored on a groundout by JP Crawford. Ryan Schimpf and K.C. Hobson hit back-to-back home runs off Zach Eflin in the top of the second inning that gave the Fisher Cats a 2-1 lead.
The Fightin Phils tagged Lawrence for four runs in the bottom of the third inning, giving them a 5-2 lead. Destin Hood hit a two-run double that was followed by a two-run single by Rene Garcia. Reading extended their lead to 8-2 off Lawrence in the bottom of the fourth inning by scoring three runs. Brock Stassi hit a RBI double and Hood hit a two-run double that would chase Lawrence out of the game.
Jorge Flores hit a two-run home run off Eflin in the top of the fifth inning that cut Reading's lead to 8-4. The Fightin Phils answered back with three runs off reliever Danny Barnes in the bottom of the sixth inning that extended their lead to 11-4. Brock Stassi hit a sacrifice fly for his 80th RBI on the season while Destin Hood hit a two-run home run. Hood was the first Fightin Phil since Nick Williams and Andrew Knapp to homer twice in a game. He's also the first Fightin Phils to have six RBI in a game since Jake Fox who hit the mark against Erie on July 22nd of last season.
Eflin left the game after six innings. He allowed four runs off six hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Jimmy Cordero entered the game in the top of the seventh inning. He gave up a solo home run to Dwight Smith Jr. in the top of the eighth inning that cut Reading's lead to 11-5. Stassi added a sacrifice fly off Blake McFarland in the bottom of the eighth inning that gave Reading a 12-5 lead.
Hoby Milner pitched the top of the ninth inning. He gave up a sacrifice fly to Derrick Chung that cut Reading's lead to 12-6. Nick Williams, Angelo Mora, JP Crawford, Destin Hood and Rene Garcia all had three-hit games.
The Fightin Phils and Fisher Cats will wrap up their season series on Thursday night. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:35 pm. The game can also be viewed on MiLB.tv beginning at 7:05 pm.
