Fisher Cats Hit Four Homers in Reading

READING, PA - The Fisher Cats matched a season-high with four home runs, including Ryan Schimpf's Eastern League-leading 18th, but fell 12-6 in Reading on Wednesday night.

Schimpf and K.C. Hobson became the first Fisher Cats players to hit back-to-back homers in the second inning to put New Hampshire in front for the only time in the contest, 2-1. Jorge Flores homered for the second consecutive day in the fifth inning and Dwight Smith Jr. added a home run in the eighth for New Hampshire (59-61). Derek Chung drove in a run in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly.

Reading's Dustin Hood was one of five Fightin Phils players to have three hits in the game. He went 3-for-5 with two homers and six RBI. His home run in the fourth inning gave Reading a lead of 5-2 against starting and losing pitcher Casey Lawrence (11-12). Hood also homered in the sixth inning to make it 11-4.

Brock Stassi drove in three runs for the Fightin' Phils (72-51). Reading, in first place in the Eastern Division, has won 15 of 16 games. Zack Eflin (7-6) was the starter and winner on Wednesday night.

The Fisher Cats will look to avoid a sweep when they meet the Fightin Phils for the final time this season on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. New Hampshire will turn to LHP Scott Barnes (2-4, 4.47) and Reading will start RHP Jake Thompson (3-0, 1.80).
