
Honkers Sign Hawaii Catcher

(Rochester, MN)-- The Honkers have added another backstop to their roster with the signing of University of Hawai'i at Manoa freshman Trevor Podratz.
Podratz, a 5'11", 235-pound Temecula, California native has started 14 games this season for the Warriors. In 15 overall games, Podratz is hitting .262 with 6 RBIs and a .392 on-base percentage.
The freshman catcher is a 2011 graduate of Chaparral High School in Temecula, California where he was a three-time letter winner in baseball. In his junior season, Podratz was named First Team All-League and First Team All-State, and earned All-League honors his senior season.
Podratz also played four seasons with the San Diego Show, a club ball team, and spent the 2011 summer playing for the San Diego Waves of the Western Baseball Association. Podratz helped the Waves to a fourth place finish at the National Baseball Congress World Series.
Podratz and the University of Hawai'i at Manoa (12-7) will be in action at the University of Portland on March 20th and then a 4-game set with Gonzaga in Spokane, WA starting on March 22. Opening day for the 2012 Rochester Honkers is on May 30 when the Honkers travel to Waterloo, IA to take on the Waterloo Bucks. The home opener is Thursday, May 31st against the same Waterloo Bucks.
