Holy Cross Pitching Duo Sign with Bombers for 2012

BATTLE CREEK, MI- The Bombers are excited to announce the signing of two Holy Cross right-handed pitchers for the 2012 season.

Nate Walker: 5'11-165, R/R, RHP, Holy Cross Crusaders (So.), San Diego, Calif.

Tom Marra: 6'3-192, R/R, RHP, Holy Cross Crusaders (Jr.), Sea Cliff, N.Y.

Nate Walker joins the Battle Creek Bombers after competing in his second season with the Holy Cross Crusaders baseball team. During the 2011 season, Walker appeared in seven games, starting one. He earned a 1-0 record and recorded one save, while striking out 18 batters. Nate earned his first start in the final game of the season, pitching a season high 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out a season-high five batters.

Nate played his high school baseball at Torrey Pines where he was a two-year varsity baseball player as a pitcher and utility player. Nate held a career record of 7-0, which ranks first in school history with regard to winning percentage, with a 2.71 ERA and 61 strikeouts. Nate was named Falcon of the Year in 2009, All-Avocado League honorable mention in 2009 and 2010 and to the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team.

Tom Marra comes to the Bombers after completing his third season at Holy Cross. In 2011, Tom appeared in 19 games including three starts. He finished with a 2-2 record while striking out 20 batters. Tom pitched his best game against UMass when he picked up his first win, allowing no runs on two hits in a season-high five innings pitched.

Tom also pitched for the New Bedford Bay Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League during the 2011 season. Tom finished with a 1-2 record in six starts, earning a 3.03 ERA with 20 strikeouts. Tom's best game occurred in a 3-1 victory over Sanford in which Tom allowed one run in five innings, yielding just four hits.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
