Three more join Express from Yavapai

Eau Claire, Wis. - March 19, 2012 - Eau Claire Express field manager Dale Varsho has announced the verbal commitment of three players from Yavapai, a familiar junior college to the Express.

Kyle Young is a freshman outfielder for the Roughriders. He went to high school at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Ari. He led his team to back-to-back State Championships and was named All-City, All-Region and 1st team All-State.

Matt Southard is a freshman right-handed pitcher. He played for Norman North High School in Oklahoma and was a three-year starter. He went 7-0 with 1.90 ERA as a senior. So far this spring, he has pitched 15.1 innings and has a 1.17 ERA in five appearances. He is 1-0 with a save.

Blair Goldsack is a right-handed pitcher and is also a freshman. He attended Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas, Nev. and was named 1st team All-State as a pitcher in his senior season after posting an 8-1 record with a 2.10 ERA. He also notched 25 saves in his career, including 19 in one season. This year he has pitched 41.1 innings in 11 appearances and leads the team with three saves.

These three players bring the Express roster to 25 players. Fifteen pitchers and 10 position players currently fill up the roster for the 2012 season.

The Express open up the 2012 season May 30, at home against the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. Continue to watch for roster announcements through the spring leading all the way up to opening day.
