Daytona Tortugas News Release
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A solo home run by SS Cody Bohanek in the third and a two-run clout from 3B Blake Tiberi in the fifth proved to be enough, as the St. Lucie Mets swerved past the Daytona Tortugas, 6-2, on Friday night at First Data Field.
Daytona (21-29, 56-59) jumped out to an early advantage in the second. After 1B Pabel Manzanero (0-4, R) reached on a two-base error, a fly out from LF Brian Rey (0-4) advanced him to third. RF Lorenzo Cedrola (1-3, RBI) followed with an RBI single to center to give the Tortugas a 1-0 lead.
St. Lucie (33-17, 65-51) tied it in the third. Bohanek (2-4, 2 R, HR, RBI, 2 SO) cracked the third pitch of the inning over the fence in left for a solo home run. The Illinois native's third homer of the campaign tied the contest up at one.
The Mets would jump ahead for good in the fifth. Following a leadoff base-hit by Bohanek, one batter later, Tiberi (2-3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB) ripped the first delivery on to the berm in right for a two-run shot. The former Louisville Cardinals' third homer of the campaign gave St. Lucie a two-run edge, 3-1.
However, their onslaught would not stop. DH Carlos Cortés (1-4, R) proceeded to slap a single and a base-hit from 1B Jeremy Vásquez (2-4, R, RBI) - plus a throwing error - set up runners at second and third. CF Jacob Zanon (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, SO) subsequently plopped a looper into shallow right. Both men scored on the bloop double to give St. Lucie a 5-1 advantage.
From that point on, both teams would trade just one more run each. In the top of the sixth, Daytona's 2B Alejo López (2-4, R) reached on an infield single and came across to score on a two-out double off the left-field wall by SS José GarcÃa (1-4, 2B, RBI, SO). Now a 5-2 affair, St. Lucie got the tally back in the seventh, as Tiberi walked, moved to second on a ground out, and scored on a base-hit to right by Vásquez.
RHP Joe Cavallaro (5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER, BB, 3 SO) garnered his sixth win for the Mets, yielding only one earned run over 5.2 frames. Tortugas RHP Jared Solomon (5.0 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 4 ER, BB, 5 SO) punched out five, but was saddled with his seventh defeat.
In an attempt to work themselves back in the series, Daytona is set to hand the ball to RHP Ryan Lillie (2-6, 3.39 ERA) in game three of the set on Saturday. St. Lucie is scheduled to counter with RHP Tylor Megill (2-2, 4.35 ERA).
The Tortugas Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 6:15 p.m. ET, leading up to the 6:30 p.m. ET start at First Data Field. Saturday evening's contest can be heard on www.daytonatortugas.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.

Fans are encouraged to come hungry as it will be a Belly Buster Monday presented by Marco's Pizza. Starting at just $13, fans can enjoy all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, and popcorn.
