Homers Carry Hens to 8-5 Victory
September 2, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release
The Hens bats exploded at Fifth Third Field on Sunday night as they defeated the Columbus Clippers, 8-5, in front of a sell-out crowd.
The scoring started early as first inning homers by Jerad Head and Danny Dorn got the Hens off to a 3-0 lead.
Columbus scored a run in the third and the fifth to cut the Hens lead to one, but Toledo then rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the game out of reach.
John Lindsey spearheaded the rally with a three-run bomb while Ben Guez knocked in two with a double in the inning.
The Hens conclude their season tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. in a special Labor Day game against the Clippers. Righty Brooks Brown is scheduled to take the hill for Toledo.
Game Notes
Duane Below earned his first victory of the season after allowing five runs over 6.1 innings.
The Hens are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
Fifth Third Field has seen a sell-out crowd in 32 games this season.
