Brockton, MA (May 26, 2008) - DH Jud Thigpen and RF Matt Maloney went back-to-back with solo homeruns it the second inning, and 2B Melvin Falu hit a three-run shot in the third inning en route to an 8-5 Rox win on Memorial Day.

Local rookie LHP Chris McDonough (1-0) earned the victory in his first professional appearance, going five innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits. McDonough kept the Skyhawks offense off-balance for most of the night, with the exception of the fourth inning when Sussex plated five runs, only two of which were earned. The Weymouth, MA native and product of Wheaton College retired the final six batters he faced in the game.

Another local prospect figured in the victory as well. RHP Rich Babb from Hopkinton, MA pitched two scoreless innings of relief in his professional debut. Babb did not allow a hit, and walked one batter. The Brockton bullpen finished the night strongly with outings from LHP Jacob Ramos who struck out two in one inning of work, and RHP Jerry Dunn who recorded his third save in as many days.

The Rox have won four straight games since losing 8-7 in extra innings on the first game of the season. Ace LHP Rolando Viera (0-0) will take to the hill on Tuesday night against Skyhawks' RHP Gary Galvez (0-1). With a victory, Viera will tie former Rox pitcher RHP Joey Baker franchise wins leader. First pitch for Tuesday night's is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
