Ottawa 67's News Release
Belleville Bulls @ Ottawa 67's
Friday, September 23, 2011
7:30 PM, Ottawa Civic Centre
Head to Head:
Last Season: The 67's had a 7-1 record against the Bulls outscoring them 35-17 along the way. Their only loss to the Bulls came in the Yardmen Arena on October 27th with a 4-2 final. Shane Prince led the scoring against the Bulls, netting 15 points (6g, 9a) in 8 contests. Sean Monahan also recorded his first career OHL hat trick on March 2nd against the Bulls.
Game Notes:
From Barberpole to Varsity Red
Former 67's captain Thomas Nesbitt played in a franchise record 331 regular season contests wearing the 67's uniform, for the first time in 5 years he will be wearing a new one this season. Nesbitt, who is currently attending his second straight New Jersey Devils training camp, has committed to the University of New Brunswick. The Stittsville native collected 213 points (104g, 109a) over his career with the 67's.
The Brothers Subban
While Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban might be the most famous of the Subban brothers, Bulls 2011 first round pick (5th overall) Jordan Subban, also a defenceman, wants to join him in the NHL sooner rather than later. As rookie Jordan learns the ropes of the faster paced OHL game he can also lean on his older brother and Bulls goaltender Malcolm Subban for guidance. Malcolm enters his second full season with the Bulls after posting a 10-17-2 record along with an impressive 3.16 GAA and .900 save percentage. All three brothers will have put on a Bulls jersey once Jordan skates in his first regular season game later this month for Belleville.

Great Danes
The Bulls are only one of two teams in the OHL that feature a player of Danish descent as one of their import players. Defenceman Simon Gronvaldt (Rodovre, Denmark) is joined by Danish countryman Niklas Jensen (Herning, Denmark) who plays for Oshawa and was a Vancouver Canuck draft pick (29th overall) this offseason. Gronvaldt is playing in his first season with the Bulls after being acquired via a summer trade via the Niagara Ice Dogs. Gronvaldt had his best OHL season last year notching 16 points (1g, 15a) in 57 contests while also holding his own in the defencive end with a +17 plus/minus rating.
Fit for a Prince
The last two years have been a whirlwind for the 67's Shane Prince. Prince was acquired by the 67's from the Kitchener Rangers late in the 2009-2010 season for a 3rd round pick in the then upcoming OHL Entry Draft. Having Prince in the lineup has been a constant bonus for the 67's since he put on the jersey for the first time. Nobody could have predicted that Prince, who was originally selected by the Kitchener Rangers in the 13th round in 2008, would go from being a steady yet unspectacular OHL player to a top NHL prospect. The Ottawa Senators picked him in the second round (61st overall) this past summer. The biggest moment in Prince's hockey career (to this point) happened last Wednesday night when he was able to don the Senators jersey in a pre-season contest against the Boston Bruins. Prince finished the night without any points but did not look out of place in his first professional contest.
Draft Class
Both the 67's and Bulls have notable players who have been drafted by NHL clubs in recent years, the 67's have six players drafted and Belleville dresses a pair of drafted players of their own.

The next 45 seasons would fly by with a pair of Memorial Cup championships, legendary Brian Kilrea leading the team to 1193 victories over 31 seasons and a lifetime of other memories.
We hope you'll join us on a regular basis this season as we aim to create new memories that will last another 45 years! The team is bigger, stronger and faster, and we could be in for a very long and thrilling ride!

Kingston Frontenacs @ Ottawa 67's
Sunday, September 25, 2011
2:00 PM, Ottawa Civic Centre
Head to Head:
Last Season: The 67's had a 4-4 record against the Frontenacs outscoring them 36-21 along the way. Tyler Toffoli led way in scoring against the Frontenacs, netting 16 points (12g, 4a) in 8 contests. Toffoli also had the best game of his OHL career on December 29th, 2010 when he notched 5 goals in a 9-0 win over Kingston. 67's netminder Petr Mrazek also recorded his first shutout of the season in the victory.
Game Notes:
Tyler Ties it Up
Appearing in his first NHL preseason game for the Los Angeles Kings, right winger Tyler Toffoli scored the game-tying goal late in the third period in an eventual 3-2 win over the Pheonix Coyotes. Toffoli would add his second point of the night only moments later when he assisted on teammate Dustin Penner's game winning goal with only 49 seconds left in the game. This is Toffoli's second NHL camp after being drafted 47th overall by the Kings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Toffoli led the OHL this past season in goals with 57.
Cody Ceci - First Round Potential
Ceci, who hails from nearby Orleans enters his third season with the 67's and is expected to continue to blossom as he has done his previous two seasons. Last year, Ceci improved his offensive game picking up 34 points (9g, 25a) in 68 contests. His 34 points represented a 22 point improvement over his 12 point (4g, 8a) rookie season in 09-10. Ceci, whom has long been recognized as a legitimate NHL prospect was also invited to an NHL Research and Development camp to help discover new potential rule changes for future NHL contests.
TSN.ca analyst, Craig Button, recently did a first round NHL entry draft projection that had the 67's Ceci coming in at 29th overall. For all prospects
Local Talent
The Frontenacs bring a big contingent of Ottawa based players when they come to town. Derek Froats, hails from Chesterville, Boston Bruins draft pick Ryan Spooner calls Kanata home. Jean Dupuy and the Gudbranson brothers, Alex and Erik, are all from Orleans. Alex is entering his NHL draft year while older brother Erik was the 3rd overall pick for the Florida Panthers at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
