Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
Friday, June 16th - Dad's Night Out, presented by Ruffles
The Green and White make their home debut at Mosaic Stadium fresh off a gutsy season-opening road victory against the Edmonton Elks. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and our cross-prairie rivals, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, are coming to town after their own Week 1 victory.
At halftime, our first Pepsi Summer Concert Series of the season features the one-and-only Canadian rock legend, Kim Mitchell! While it may be your 'Rock N Roll Duty' to 'Go For a Soda,' you'll want to stay in your seat to prove we are '2Up 2B Down' and far from 'Easy to Tame' as we sing along to all of his great hits!
Kim Mitchell is a Canadian rock icon who has sold more than 1.5 million records in Canada, earned 17 Juno Awards nominations, and, in 2021, was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. His hits have become part of the Canadian musical landscape and earned Mitchell three Juno Award wins for "Male Vocalist of the year", "Album of the year", and "Most promising Male Vocalist."
To celebrate the return of football and Father's Day weekend, we introduce a brand-new theme game: Dad's Night Out, presented by Ruffles. With plenty of dad jokes and dad-themed entertainment, we are unleashing a ton of fun activities for Dad and the entire family!
The first 5,000 fathers and father figures through the gates will receive a FREE Riders Cap! You don't want to miss this limited-edition one-of-a-kind cap to show off your Rider Pride!
Get here early, there's plenty to do! With construction on Lewvan Drive, the roads around Mosaic Stadium will be congested by single lane traffic and the peak rush hour times but we have an absolutely jam-packed Coors Light Party in the Park to keep you busy! Our FREE Rider Transit presented by WorkSafe Saskatchewan is another good alternative to go to and from the game without any of the hassle! More information about the Rider Transit can be found here.
Speaking of a jam-packed Party in the Park, the gates open at 4:00 p.m.! Classic rock cover band Wonderland performs on the Coors Light Stage, playing all your dad's favourite one-hit wonders and 80's classics! Come early to enjoy the music and join in on the fun as there will be inflatables, face painters, tailgate games, food trucks (including an ice cream truck!), and games for kids like sack races with dad! The Rider Flow Dance Crew presented by Engelheim will also perform multiple times throughout the day!
This year, Party in the Park introduces the brand-new Rider Cornhole Tournament! Win gear from the Rider Store and have a chance to be crowned the Champion at end of the season! The tournament requires 2-4 people per team, and all participants must be at least 16 years or older. Sign up your team today!
We also have an opportunity for fans to meet some of their favourite Riders, as wide receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker and offensive lineman Philip Blake will be signing autographs at Party in the Park! Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to create unforgettable memories with your family!
Reminders for the game
Your phone is your ticket! Don't forget to download the Rider App, powered by SaskTel, onto your smartphone and have your digital tickets ready before you come to Mosaic Stadium. We promise it's easy, but we created a tutorial video here and have a full FAQ and written tutorial at Riderville.com, just in case!
Large purses, backpacks and camera bags are prohibited. There is a clear bag policy for all Saskatchewan Roughrider games. Each fan, including children, can bring in one clear bag sized 12" x 6" x 12" or smaller. More details on the clear bag policy can be found here.
In transit? Whether you arrive at the stadium on four wheels or two, there are options available! The bike valet opens at 4:30 p.m. on game day and is staffed by volunteers through REAL. The bikes are inside a fenced compound that is monitored throughout its hours of operation. Please note that your bike must be picked up within one hour after the game ends. The bike valet is located by the South West exterior of the Stadium by Gate 1.
In addition, Rider Transit presented by WorkSafe Saskatchewan is back! Free bus transit is available from various locations across the city Southland Mall, University of Regina, Warehouse district, the Delta Hotel, Victoria Ave and Scarth Street and the Turvey Centre, starting two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff time.
Week 2
The first chance to see quarterback Trevor Harris, receivers Shawn Bane Jr. and Jake Wieneke, as well as centre Peter Godber run out to 'Bring Em' Out' as they don their green home jersey is finally here!
In a grind-it-out Week 1 victory, the Riders had several standout players on both sides of the ball. The aforementioned Godber was the highest-graded centre in the first week of CFL action per Pro Football Focus. The man he helped open running lanes for, tailback Jamal Morrow, also had a great game as he gained 80 yards on the ground in 14 carries. Bane Jr. led the team in catches in his Rider debut, finishing with six receptions for 36 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, there were several players and position groups that had an exceptional game. The entire unit was responsible for stuffing the Elks on three consecutive quarterback sneaks from the 1-yard line late in the fourth quarter to keep the Riders ahead and ultimately win the game. The defensive line generated plenty of pressure throughout the night as five different players finished with a sack.
Defensive back Rolan Milligan carried over his strong play from last season, recording six tackles (five defensive, one special), one tackle for loss, one pass knockdown, and one fourth-quarter diving interception.
