
Hoffpauir moves up, Toops comes in

New Jersey Cardinals News Release
Today, Jarrett Hoffpauir is packing his bags as he is now a member of the Peoria Chiefs (Midwest League Class A). Hoffpauir appeared in 9 games for the Cardinals this season, going 13-for-36 (.361) with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs. He also led the team in slugging percentage at .694. Last season, Jarrett finished his college career at Southern Mississippi by hitting .405 with 11 home runs and 92 RBIs. As a member of the Golden Eagles, Hoffpauir was named All-Conference USA first team and was a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the countrys top collegiate baseball player.
In other transactions, the New Jersey Cardinals have added catcher Brady Toops to the roster. Toops joins the team after competing in the College World Series as a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks. This season, he hit .291 with 4 home runs and 29 RBIs, and was named SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Tonight the Cardinals will finish their 3-game series against the Auburn Doubledays (Toronto Blue Jays) at 7:15pm at Skylands Park. KFC and the New Jersey Herald will be sponsoring our Kids Eat Freepromotion. There will also be post-game batting practice, where fans will have the opportunity to hit a home run to win $100 and a new gas grill from Eastern Propane. The Cardinals will then travel to Williamsport and Brooklyn before returning home on Friday July 2nd, when they will face the Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets). The Daily Record and World Auto Group will be sponsoring a massive fireworks extravaganza!!!
