Doubledays top cards

This evening at Skylands Park in Augusta, New Jersey, the New Jersey Cardinals lost their third straight game to the Auburn Doubledays (Toronto Blue Jays), 7-1. Auburns Jeremy Harper (1-0) picked up the win after throwing 6 shut out innings. For the Cardinals, Miguel Aguero (1-1) dropped his first decision of the season, working 5.1 innings and allowing 5 runs on 8 hits.

The Cards fell to 4-7 on the season, 1-6 at Skylands Park. The offense was able to muster 6 hits as the Doubledays pitching staff kept them at bay. Marcos Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, and he scored the lone run of the night for the Cards after banging a triple off the right field wall with two outs in the 9th inning. Jake Mullinax also recorded 2 hits, including an RBI single in the 9th to drive in Rodriguez. On the mound, Chris Della Rocco pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Cardinals.

New Jersey is back in action tomorrow night as it opens a two-game set at Williamsport (Pittsburgh Pirates). The Cards then travel to Brooklyn (New York Mets) on Thursday and return home on Friday night at 7:15 pm for another contest with the Cyclones. Condit Toyota and The Daily Record and sponsor a massive fireworks extravaganza that will take place following Fridays game.
