PASCO, Wash. - Jesse Hodges went 3-for-5 with a pair of homers and a career-high six RBI, as the Boise Hawks used a seven-run eighth inning to top Tri-City, 14-3, at Gesa Stadium.

The six-RBI by Hodges were the most by a Boise player since Kyler Burke had six-RBI vs. Vancouver during the 2008 season. The 14 runs and 19 hits by the Hawks were the most in the Northwest League by a team in 2014.

Boise jumped out to a quick lead in the first, as Jeffrey Baez led off with a double and scored on a Mark Zagunis opposite field RBI triple. Danny Canela followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

The Dust Devils answered with two outs in the fourth, as Shane Hoelscher lined an RBI single and Jairo Rosario tripled him home to tie the score.

The Hawks took the lead in the fifth on a two-out Baez RBI single and added a Justin Marra RBI ground out in the sixth to make it 4-2.

Boise broke the game wide open in the eighth, sending 11 batters to the plate. Zagunis and Mark Malave each had run scoring singles, before Hodges launched a three-run homer and Baez roped a long two-run shot to make it 11-2. An inning later, Hodges capped the night with his second home run of the night.

Canela went 4-for-4, with Baez going 3-for-5 with three RBI in the victory. Tyler Ihrig recorded his second-straight quality start, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings of work for his second win.

Game 4 of the series is tomorrow night at 8:15 p.m. (MT), with Erick Leal meeting Ryan Warner.

NOTES: The 19 hits by the Hawks were their most since recording 20 hits vs. Yakima in 2009...it was the most runs scored by Boise in an inning since an eight-run inning in Eugene during the 2011 season...Rashad Crawford recorded both of his hits in the eighth inning...Malave grounded into a rare triple play in the fourth inning - the first time Boise has hit into a triple play since 2005 in Spokane...Trey Lang tossed a scoreless seventh inning, his sixth-straight appearance without allowing a run...Ihrig struck out five in the victory and has now walked one and fanned 22 in 24 innings of work this season.
