Hillsboro Hops News Release

The Hops rode a strong start from Brent Jones and scoreless outings from Dustin Loggins and Cody Geyer to a 3-1 win over Everett tonight at Ron Tonkin Field.

Hillsboro (12-7) quickly found themselves in a 1-0 hole after Everett (5-14) scored a run on a sac fly. After being shut out going into the third inning, the Hops scored two runs in the home half of the third as Elvin Soto roped a triple to right center field that scored Yorman Garcia from first base. George Roberts grounded out to the shortstop to score Soto from third to give the Hops a lead that they would not relinquish.

Bennie Robinson grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Jordan Parr from third base in the bottom of the fourth to give the Hops their 3-1 lead that they would keep for the rest of the game.

After five-and-two-thirds innings of one-run pitching, Jones exited the game after getting a line drive delivered straight to his shoulder. The hard-throwing right-hander left the game after throwing one warm up pitch.

Loggins came in on relief for Jones threw two-and-a-third innings of shutout ball. The tall righty only allowed one hit, walked none and struck out three.

Cody Geyer came in for his second save of the year and got it, not allowing a single AqauSox batter reach base.

Soto continued to stroke the ball all over the park, as he went 1-for-4 with the third inning RBI triple. Parr registered two hits, including a double in the fourth inning.

Tomorrow's first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Hear all the live action with Rich Burk and Matt Richert on Rip City Radio 620 AM beginning with the pregame show at 6:35 p.m.
