
Hitmen Survive Broncos in Shootout

Swift Current, SK - Josh Prokop scored the lone goal of the shootout to power the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-3 come from behind win over the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday night at Innovation Credit Union iPlex.
Trailing 3-1 after 40 minutes, the Hitmen took over in the third period outshooting the home side 21-2. Cael Zimmerman pulled Calgary to within a goal with less than nine minutes remaining before Carson Focht netted the equalizer with 4:39 left. For Focht, it was his second marker of the night and 21st of the season.
Jaxan Kaluski paced the Swift Current attack with a pair of goals, both coming on 5-on-3 power-plays, while D-Jay Jerome added a single.
Calgary fired a season-high 53 shots on goal, just three shy of the franchise record for road shots in a game established on October 11, 2017 in a 4-2 win at Kamloops.
The Broncos posted 22 shots as goaltender Jack McNaughton made 19 saves to pick up the victory improving his record to 14-4-1-1.
The Hitmen will now get set for the second stop on this five-game road trip in Brandon on Friday, Jan. 17 against the Wheat Kings. It's then off to Winnipeg for back to back dates with the Ice (Jan. 18/19) before concluding the swing in Red Deer (Jan. 25).
The next Hitmen home game is not until Sunday, Jan. 26 for a rematch with the Rebels. It's also Sunday Funday presented by Ricky's All Day Grill featuring face painters, concourse activities and giveaways. Following the game fans are invited to take part in 'Dodge Skate with the Hitmen', a 90-minute skate featuring 45 minutes with Hitmen players. Sunday Funday pricing sees a $9.99 ticket for kids 12 and under and a $15.99 ticket for adults (plus applicable fees and taxes).
