Calgary, AB-The Calgary Hitmen played their second game of the 2023-24 campaign at Co-op Place tonight against the Medicine Hat Tigers, finishing the home-and-home set.
Medicine Hat opened up scoring early with three goals in under ten minutes. Goals were seen from Shane Smith, Andrew Basha, and Gavin McKenna.
Calgary would come out strong in the second period with three unanswered goals to tie the game. David Adaszynski lead the come back off a pass from Ben Kindel to get Calgary on the board.
Matteo Danis would net the second goal, tipping a shot from Wyatt Pisarczyk who made his WHL debut tonight. Carter Yakemchuk would score just eight seconds later to tie the game. Andrew Basha found the back of the net for his second of the night which would prove to be the game winner.
The third period went scoreless until an empty net marker from Cayden Lindstrom to seal the deal for Medicine Hat. Shots finished 28-25 in favour of the home team.
Calgary's next home game is Sunday, October 1 vs the Saskatoon Blades, marking the first Sunday Funday of the season. Sunday Funday presented by Brookfield Residential, is a must see for both the Calgary Hitmen and the Calgary Wranglers. Tickets are available at HitmenHockey.com.
