Calgary, AB - Captain Mark Kastelic snapped a 2-2 third period tie with a power play goal to lift the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers on New Year's Day at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Jonas Peterek, Hunter Campbell and Sean Tschigerl also scored for the Hitmen who improve to 3-1 against their Central Division rivals. James Malm chipped in a pair of assists while goaltender Jack McNaughton made 32 saves in recording his 13th win of the season.

Lukas Svejkovsky and Ryan Chyzowski counted goals for Medicine Hat which posted a 34-29 advantage on the shot clock.

With the win the Hitmen improve to 18-11-4-1 while the CHL's number 10-ranked Tigers drop to 23-11-1-1.

Calgary will now prepare for a trio of weekend games starting Friday, Jan. 3 in Medicine Hat before heading to Lethbridge on Saturday, Jan. 4 to face the Hurricanes.

The Hitmen then return to Scotiabank Saddledome to complete the busy stretch on Sunday, Jan. 5 against Moose Jaw. Game sponsor is Hilton with a 4:00 p.m. puck drop for Sunday Funday presented by Ricky's All Day Grill featuring face painters, concourse activities, giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday pricing sees a $9.99 ticket for kids 12 and under and a $15.99 ticket for adults (plus applicable fees and taxes).
